CDK IV of Central Java DLHK and Bhimasena Power Collaborate to Conduct Nature Conservation Cadre Training in Batang
Bhimasena Power, Batang Power Plant – The Regional Forestry Branch Office (CDK) Region IV of the Central Java Environmental and Forestry Agency (DLHK) officially launched the Basic-Level Technical Education and Training for Nature Conservation Cadres. Conducted in collaboration with PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), the three-day program took place from Monday to Wednesday, July 13–15, 2026, at Sedawung Hills, Tombo Village, Bandar District, Batang Regency.
The training program was specifically designed to develop a new generation of individuals who are responsive and actively committed to preserving forest ecosystems and biodiversity in a sustainable manner. A total of 20 participants attended the program, representing various community groups, including environmental activists from Tombo Village, bird conservation enthusiasts from Pacet Village, and employees of PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia.
Head of the Regional Forestry Branch Office (CDK) Region IV of the Central Java Environmental and Forestry Agency, Gunawan, S.Hut., M.Eng., emphasized that developing conservation cadres at the grassroots level is a crucial step in strengthening nature conservation efforts. According to him, environmental conservation cannot be driven solely by the government but requires active participation from local communities equipped with strong technical knowledge.
"Through this training, participants receive essential knowledge covering general forestry, basic ecology, and field practices in flora and fauna identification. We hope they will become pioneers in forest conservation across the Batang region," said Gunawan.
In line with this commitment, General Manager of Stakeholder Relations of PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), Aryamir H. Sulasmoro, reaffirmed the company's ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability in the areas surrounding its operations.
"This strategic collaboration with CDK IV of the Central Java Environmental and Forestry Agency demonstrates the company's commitment to supporting environmental conservation initiatives collectively. Strong synergy among the private sector, government, and local communities is essential to fostering lasting awareness of the importance of protecting biodiversity. The initiative also received strong appreciation from Mustajab, Head of Tombo Village, who welcomed the selection of his village as both the training venue and the field practice location. The village government expressed its pride and gratitude that local residents had the opportunity to learn directly from experts representing various sectors.
"We believe this program is highly strategic for the future of Tombo Village, which possesses extraordinary natural potential. We are committed to continuously supporting these local conservation cadres after the training so that the knowledge they have gained can be directly applied to protecting our village forests while developing nature-based tourism in a responsible and sustainable manner. We also hope that, in the future, Tombo Village will become a Conservation Village," emphasized Mustajab.
Throughout the three-day program, participants completed a comprehensive curriculum delivered by experts from various government agencies and institutions. On the first day, they received training on General Forestry and Environmental Awareness from the Central Java Environmental and Forestry Agency, followed by sessions on Fundamentals of Conservation and Indonesian Flora and Fauna presented by the Central Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA). On the second day, participants attended courses on Basic Leadership delivered by the Bandar Sub-district Office, Basic Ecology by the Batang Environmental Agency, Nature Tourism Management by Perum Perhutani KPH East Pekalongan, and Emergency Response, First Aid, and Search and Rescue (SAR) by the Batang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). As the culmination of the program on the third day, participants conducted field practice in the forests of Tombo Village, carrying out flora and fauna identification as well as surveys and monitoring of wild plants and wildlife under the guidance of the Haliaster Nature Lovers Association (KPA Haliaster), Department of Biology, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP).
Through this intensive training program, the newly established conservation cadres are expected not only to earn Basic-Level Nature Conservation Cadre Certification but also to be fully prepared to build networks and actively contribute to adaptive, measurable, and sustainable environmental conservation initiatives for a greener future in Batang Regency.(**)
