PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), as the owner of the 2 x 1,000 MW Central Java Coal Fired Power Plant in Batang Regency, demonstrates its strong commitment to biodiversity conservation through integrated and sustainable environmental initiatives aligned with the Indonesia Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (IBSAP) 2025–2045. Located in a unique coastal ecotone where terrestrial and marine ecosystems meet, the Central Java CFPP area supports rich biodiversity, including resident, migratory, and protected bird species such as the Sacred Kingfisher, Yellow Bittern, Black-crowned Night Heron, Glossy Ibis, and the Black-naped Oriole, the avian emblem of Central Java Province.
This Biodiversity Book 2025 serves as scientific documentation and tangible evidence of BPI’s dedication to sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and the harmonious coexistence between advanced industrial operations and biodiversity conservation for future generations.
To meet Equator Principle 10 which requires reporting and transparency regarding biodiversity data, PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) collaborated with Pecinta Alam Haliaster from the Department of Biology, Dipenogoro University Semarang to monitor biodiversity at 6 monitoring points and focused on monitoring flora, aves, lepidoptera, odonatans and herpetofauna in 2018. Based on the results of the monitoring, 148 species of flora, 86 types of aves, 59 types of lepidoptera, 25 types of odonata, and 22 types of herpetofauna were obtained around the Batang Power Plant – Central Java. The results of the monitoring are recorded in "Biodiversity of Central Java Power Plant" to provide an overview of the types of flora and fauna that can be found around the Batang Power Plant – Central Java area.
This book is a tangible form that the development carried out can coexist and be in harmony with other components of life, namely flora and fauna. Various efforts will certainly continue to be made to maintain, preserve and create a life that is in harmony and harmony with nature.
