Celebrating World Mangrove Day, Thousands of Grey Mangrove Planted in East Roban

as the owner of Batang Power Plant together with the Batang Regency Environment
Office, Batang Regency Marine and Fisheries Service, Central Java Province
Forestry Service Branch IV, Diponegoro University students, Sengon Village
government, Subah District, Roban Timur Jaya Forest Farmers Group (KTH), MI
Arrobaniyah school students, and East Roban residents planted 2. 000 Avicennia
mangroves on Thursday, July 31, 2025 around the estuary of Urang River, Sengon
Village, Subah District, Batang Regency. This activity is part of BPI's CSR
program, as well as a tangible manifestation of the Company's commitment to
continue to support the Central Java Governor's “Mageri Segoro” Program. In addition,
this activity was carried out to commemorate World Mangrove Day which falls
every July 26. Not only mangrove planting, this activity was also filled with
beach cleanup actions as a form of concern for the preservation of the coastal
environment.
Mangrove
ecosystems are important natural carbon sinks, protect the coastline from
erosion and high waves, are home to biodiversity, and support community
livelihoods that should be preserved, maintained and increased. Recognizing
this importance, BPI consistently supports mangrove conservation and
rehabilitation efforts in Batang Regency.
General
Manager Stakeholder Relations of PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), Aryamir H.
Sulasmoro, through CSR & Community Relations Manager Ahmad Lukman expressed
his appreciation for the collaboration of all parties in mangrove planting
activities on the East Roban coast.
"This
mangrove planting activity is not only commemorating World Mangrove Day, but
also in line with the Mageri Segoro Program launched by the Governor of Central
Java. We hope these mangroves will be the guardians of marine and coastal
ecosystems, help preserve biodiversity, and provide a valuable legacy for
future generations."
Head
of the Environmental Management Division of the Batang Regency Environmental
Agency, Ila Dhiama Warni, SH, emphasized the importance of real action in
preserving coastal areas. According to her, beach cleanup and mangrove planting
are strategic steps to protect the environment and provide long-term benefits
for the community.
"On
this World Mangrove Day, beach cleanup and mangrove planting are environmental
investments. The results may not be visible today, but will be a valuable
legacy for future generations."
Similarly,
the Head of the Central Java Region IV Forestry Service Branch, Gunawan,
emphasized that mangrove planting has great benefits for environmental
sustainability as well as the welfare of coastal communities.
"The
planting of 2,000 Avicennia mangrove trees is part of our joint efforts to
restore coastal ecosystems. Mangroves help reduce abrasion, erosion, land
subsidence, and pollution as well as providing economic benefits to the
surrounding community."
Meanwhile,
Sengon Village Head, H. Yaroni, expressed his appreciation for the initiative
taken at East Roban Beach.
"On
behalf of the Sengon Village Government, we would like to thank BPI and the
Government for this mangrove planting initiative. We hope this activity is
sustainable and the community is ready to support and maintain mangroves to
provide long-term benefits for our village."
Through
this initiative, BPI demonstrates its ongoing commitment in sustainable
environmental management, particularly in preserving coastal ecosystems,
encouraging community participation, and promoting the welfare of coastal residents.
