President Director of BPI, Ryuta Sato said that when WHO declared Covid-19 a global pandemic on March 11, 2020, and then the Government of the Republic of Indonesia declared Covid-19 as a National Disaster on March 14 2020, BPI responded by preparing a program to protect workers from Covid-19. BPI formed the Covid-19 Task Force as one of the business continuity plans in preventing the spread of Covid-19. Preventive measures are taken according to the type of case or variant of the virus that occurs.
Measures to prevent and control Covid-19 that have been implemented include measuring body temperature every day before entering the workplace, wearing a mask while at work, maintaining distance in the workplace and office, operational vehicles, increasing air ventilation in the workplace, spraying disinfectants regularly at work, provision of hand sanitizers (hand sanitizer and hand washing soap) in the workplace, limiting the capacity of meeting rooms and operational vehicles, installing screens on work desks and operational vehicles, giving vitamins to employees, screening for the spread of the Covid-19 virus through mass antigen tests for employees, contractors, and guests/visitors of the workplace, implementing work from home and limited work from the office, and requiring all BPI employees and management to carry out 3rd dose of Covid-19 vaccinations (boosters).
"We note that Batang Power Plant is a national strategic project in the electricity sector which has an important role to fulfil electricity supply in the Java-Bali region. Therefore, in facing the Covid-19 Pandemic, we continued to give our best effort to complete construction and start operation promptly so that we can immediately contribute to the energy security while still making the safety and health of our workforce a top priority," said Ryuta Sato.
Meanwhile, Chief Technical Officer of BPI Akihiro Osajima expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia for giving the Zero Accident award for the company's performance in employee work safety and the award as the company with the best program in preventing and controlling Covid-19 in the workplace. We also express our gratitude to the Satwasker of Pekalongan for providing guidance to BPI regarding HSE programs.
"This award is one of the achievements for implementing a good OHS management system and solid cooperation between BPI management and employees and a trigger for us to be even better at protecting the workforce," said Akihiro Osajima.
Akihiro Osajima said that BPI continues to strive to always comply with applicable regulations regarding OHS aspects in each of its jobs, which is of course reflected in the existence of strict management policies and regulations related to HSE (Occupational Health, Safety and Environment) that are currently being implemented by BPI.
