Commemorating National Waste Awareness Day 2026, Batang Power Plant Supports the "Jawa Tengah ASRI" Movement
Bhimasena Power, Batang Power
Plant – PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), as the owner of the Batang
Power Plant expressed its full support for the Jawa Tengah ASRI (Safe, Healthy,
Clean, and Beautiful) movement during the peak event of the 2026 National Waste
Awarnes Day (HPSN) at the Central Java Provincial level. The event was centered
at Jodo Beach, Sidorejo Village, Gringsing District, Batang Regency, on
Tuesday, February 24, 2026. This launch was accompanied by a simultaneous waste
cleanup action across 35 regencies/cities in Central Java as a concrete step
toward waste management transformation. Support for this activity is a tangible
action by the company to strengthen synergy in sustainable waste management.
In his speech, the Governor of
Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, emphasized that waste handling requires a concrete
action plan at the regional level, not just a commitment on paper. He revealed
that out of the total waste production in Central Java, which reaches 6.36
million tons per year, only about 60 percent is currently handled optimally.
"This activity is not just
ceremonial, it must become an educational movement so that waste becomes an
issue we resolve together as a culture," Ahmad Luthfi stated. In addition
to waste, he highlighted the importance of planting two million mangrove trees
along the Central Java coast to mitigate the impact of tidal flooding (rob)
along the 920-kilometer coastline.
Supporting these directions, the
Regent of Batang, M. Faiz Kurniawan, stated that the Batang Regency Government
will intensify cleanliness programs down to the sub-district and village
levels. Currently, Batang Regency produces approximately 428 tons of waste per
day. As a long-term solution, the Batang Regency Government is preparing for
the construction of the Sentul Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST).
"TPST Sentul is projected to
have a capacity of 100 to 120 tons per day, with construction starting this
coming August and targeted for completion by 2027. Through the development of
the TPST, the optimization of TPS3R, and inter-regional cooperation in the
Pekalongan Raya area, we are optimistic about resolving approximately 80 to 85
percent of the waste issues in Batang Regency," said Regent Faiz
Kurniawan.
As a form of concrete commitment,
the General Manager of Stakeholder Relations at PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia,
Aryamir H. Sulasmoro, handed over aid in the form of cleanliness facilities
consisting of 16 units of segregated organic and inorganic trash bins, 250 sea
cypress seedlings to be planted in coastal areas to curb abrasion and protect
the shoreline, and an exhibition of innovative CSR program created by trash
bank beneficiaries from the Village Trash Bank Communication Forum (FKBSD) of
Tulis District.
"As part of the community in
Batang Regency, we are committed to being a strategic partner to the government
in achieving waste management targets. Environmental management is not just
about meeting regulations, it is also a corporate social responsibility for the
sustainable future of Central Java," he said.
Collaboration with local
governments, particularly the Central Java Provincial Environment and Forestry
Office and the Batang Environmental Office, continues through various programs
such as planting mangroves and sea cypress in coastal areas, planting trees in
watersheds, and community empowerment through waste bank programs that provide
economic value to the community.
Since beginning operations, BPI
has also implemented a segregated waste management system within the Batang
Power Plant operational area. This management includes composting facilities
for organic waste, distributing economically valuable waste to fostered trash
banks, and collaborating with the Batang Regency Environmental Office to handle
residual waste.
In addition to waste management,
the company carries out reforestation programs by planting trees both inside
and outside the power plant's operational areas. "These programs include
reforestation and the development of mangrove areas around the coast, as well
as greening in several other areas in Batang Regency to maintain ecosystem
balance," he concluded.(**)
