Commitment to Environmental Sustainability, PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia Launches the Biodiversity Book of the Central Java 2 × 1,000 MW Power Plant
Bhimasena Power, Batang Power
Plant – PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) officially launched the
Biodiversity Book of the Central Java 2 × 1,000 MW Power Plant (Batang Power
Plant), followed by a panel discussion at the Batang Regency Hall on Tuesday,
30 June 2026.
The publication serves as
tangible evidence of the Company's commitment to transparency and environmental
stewardship in the areas surrounding the Batang Power Plant. Developed through
close collaboration between BPI and the Haliaster Nature Lovers Group from the
Department of Biology at Diponegoro University (UNDIP), and published by Gagas
Bisnis, the book presents the results of comprehensive biodiversity monitoring
conducted between 2013 and 2025 across six observation stations surrounding the
plant's operational area. Based on documented scientific findings, the area
supports a rich ecosystem consisting of 204 plant species (flora), 108
bird species, including 17 protected species and 16 migratory species from
Australia and Asia 80 butterfly species (Lepidoptera), 36 dragonfly
species (Odonata), 30 herpetofauna species (reptiles and
amphibians), and seven mammal species. The operational area has also been
identified as an important habitat for species of high conservation value,
including the endangered Java Sparrow (Padda oryzivora) and the
Black-naped Oriole (Oriolus chinensis), the official faunal mascot of
Central Java Province.

Chief Operating Officer of PT
Bhimasena Power Indonesia, Naofumi Yasuda, emphasized that the responsibility
of providing reliable electricity to the nation must always go hand in hand
with preserving the environment.
"The Biodiversity Book is
more than an administrative requirement. It represents our accountability and
provides tangible evidence of what has been achieved through strong pentahelix
collaboration among the Company, academia, government, local communities, and
the media," he said.
In response to this, the Regent
of Batang, M. Faiz Kurniawan, S.H., M.H., expressed his highest appreciation,
noting that this biodiversity documentation serves as proof that hundreds of
flora and fauna species are able to survive and even thrive in the vicinity of
the industrial area, maintaining a harmonious coexistence despite various
challenges.
"Amidst the challenges of
climate change and extreme global temperatures, I emphasize the importance of
addressing local risks such as potential emissions, water pollution, and
coastal erosion, as well as the impacts on fishermen and farmers. Through
commitment, technology, and collaboration, BPI has addressed these risks with
concrete actions, including rigorous environmental monitoring, massive mangrove
planting, improved waste management, and community empowerment CSR
programs," stated M. Faiz Kurniawan.

Concluding his remarks, the
Regent of Batang reaffirmed the region's vision for a sustainable future, "We
do not choose between electricity and the environment; we choose both" and
expressed hope that this book would serve as a new roadmap for enhancing
oversight and innovation, ultimately realizing genuine progress that neither
harms nature nor leaves anyone behind.
The book launch and panel
discussion were attended by representatives from the Central Java Environmental
and Forestry Agency (DLHK), regional government agencies of Batang Regency,
educational institutions, literacy communities, media organizations, and
non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Moderated by Farodililah from Bisnis
