General Information

PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia is a private power plant special purpose vehicle company in Indonesia engaged in steam power generation (PLTU) established by a consortium of three companies, namely Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-Power), PT Adaro Power (Adaro Power) which has changed its name to PT AlamTri Power Indonesia (API), and ITOCHU Corporation (ITOCHU). 

The shareholders of PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) are Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-Power) with 34% shareholding, PT AlamTri Power Indonesia (API) with 34% share ownership and ITOCHU Corporation (ITOCHU) with 32% shareholding.

PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia's main project is the Central Java Power Plant 2 x 1,000 MW (Batang Power Plant)

The Batang Power Plant was built through the Government-Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) scheme. PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) is an Implementing Business Entity that builds, operates, and sells electricity to PLN for 25 years.

Central Java Power Plant (Batang Power Plant) is the first infrastructure project of the Government Cooperation with Business Entities (Public Private Partnership-PPP) scheme which was successfully realized by obtaining a joint guarantee facility by PT Penjaminan & Infratruktur Indonesia (PT. PII) and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (Ministry of Finance) in accordance with Presidential Regulation 78/2010.

The business scheme implemented is Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) during the concession period of 25 years.

The financial close of this project was held at the State Palace on June 9, 2016 which was witnessed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs) as Chairman of the Committee for the Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Provision (KPPIP), the Minister of National Development Planning, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises and the Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning.

Batang Power Plant Unit 1 operate on August 15, 2022 while Unit 2 operate on August 31, 2022.

The Batang Power Plant is located in Ujungnegoro, Ponowareng and Karanggeneng Villages, Kandeman District, Batang Regency, Central Java Province

Batang Power Plant covers an area of ± 226 hectares

The Batang Power Plant consists of 2 units, each with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts.

The main fuel used by the Batang Power Plant is subbituminous coal from South Kalimantan

PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia has taken various steps to reduce environmental impact, such as the use of environmentally friendly technology, namely ultra supercritical (USC), and good waste management.

PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia has contributed to the surrounding community through the corporate social responsibility program "Bhimasena Lentera" such as the economic development program (Bhimasena Lentera Ekonomi), the health facility improvement program (Bhimasena Lentera Kesehatan), the education program (Bhimasena Lentera Pendidikan), the social, cultural and environmental program (Bhimasena Lentera Sosbudling), the Infrastructure program (Bhimasena Lentera Infrastruktur).
