Committed to Supporting Village Libraries Development in Batang, BPI Achieve Library Appreciation Certificate

 YOGYAKARTA, March 14, 2017 - PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI)'s commitment to developing village libraries in Batang Regency, Central Java, granted with an certificate appreciation from Coca Cola Foundation Indonesia (CCFI) to its commitment and consistency in developing and empowering the community and village libraries in Batang since November 2011.

 
"We would like to express our gratitude for the appreciation and award from Coca Cola Foundation Indonesia. BPI sustains its commitment to develop information and communication technology-based village library program, as we have done," said BPI Director of Operations Shiroki Yamashita after receiving the award at Sahid Rich Hotel, Yogyakarta (14/3). BPI takes an active role in the village library program themed PERPUSERU initiated by CCFI, supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
 
Yamashita said that the PERPUSERU program is a village library program that has become a breakthrough that allows the public to get more access on information and technology. This condition will be very useful because it allows the public to address daily issues and find the solution through books or information  technology which can be found at the library,
 
Since 2015, PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia along with its partners have replicated the PerpuSeru Program in ten villages affected by the Power Plant, i.e. Karanggeneng, Ujungnegro, Ponowareng, Wonokerso, Kenconorejo, Tulis, Simbangjati, Beji, Wringingintung and Bakalan. In this program, PT BPI through its Educational CSR program supports every phase of the program at each Village Libraries, such as Socialization, Library Development Training, Internet Computer Basic Training, computer and infrastructure provision, and book donations.
 
"This partnership program aims to make the library a learning center and innovative, information and communication technology-based public activity. Certainly, with this facility, we also hope to be able to improve the quality of life for the villagers," said Yamashita.
 
BPI is committed and will continue to uphold this commitment to support the village libraries in operation at this moment, whereas the village libraries will be able to transform into a community learning center or agent of change. Because the executive board and the manager facilitate youth, students and Family Welfare Movement housewives in visiting exciting and fun libraries, not a boring place. 
 
"In the future, we hope there will be at least 14 libraries in the villages around the Power Plant which can transform into PERPUSERU," said Yamashita.
