Batang Power Plant Holds Mass Circumcision for Roban Fishermen’s Children

Bhimasena Power, Batang Power Plant — A touching yet joyful atmosphere filled West Roban Hamlet, Kedungsegog Village, Tulis District, Batang Regency, on Friday, October 17, 2025. Dozens of children from fishermen family enthusiastically took part in a Mass Circumcision event held by PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), the operator and owner of Batang Power Plant. The event was also witnessed by the Batang Regency Social Affairs Office and the Tulis District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam).

This social initiative reflects BPI’s real commitment to supporting the fishing communities living along the coasts of West Roban and East Roban, two areas located near the operational zone of Batang Power Plant. Both coastal villages, situated about four kilometres from the power plant, are integral to the region’s social and economic life, with the majority of residents working as traditional fishermen who depend on the sea for their livelihood.

Through this mass circumcision program, BPI not only provides free healthcare services for fishermen’s children, but also strengthens social ties and builds closer relationships with the coastal communities that have long been partners in the daily life surrounding this national strategic project.

The event was warmly welcomed by local residents. Ahmad Fauzi, a fisherman from East Roban and parent of one participant, expressed his gratitude for the company’s concern.

“I am very grateful that my son was able to join this mass circumcision. The cost of circumcision today is not cheap, so this program really helps us. Thank you to PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia for caring about the surrounding community,” said Ahmad Fauzi.

Aryamir H. Sulasmoro, General Manager of Stakeholder Relations at PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia, stated that this event is more than just a social program — it is a symbol of care and synergy between the company and the local community.

“Through this mass circumcision, we want to share happiness and provide real benefits for nearby residents, especially the children who represent our future. BPI is committed not only to supplying energy for Indonesia, but also to improving the social well-being of the communities around us,” said Aryamir H. Sulasmoro.

He added that the program is expected to strengthen the relationship between the company and residents of Roban, while taking a small step toward building a healthier, more independent, and more prosperous community.

The Batang Regency Government also gave full support to the initiative. In his remarks, Kedungsegog Village Head Rusbad expressed appreciation for BPI’s consistency in running social programs in coastal areas.

“We truly appreciate PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia for continuing to support our community, especially through activities like this. This mass circumcision program is very helpful, particularly for low-income families. We hope programs like this can continue every year,” said Rusbad.

The mass circumcision is part of BPI’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the public health sector. In addition to free circumcision services, participants also received initial medical check-ups from the Tulis Community Health Center (Puskesmas) team.

Parents were also given education on wound care, personal hygiene, and signs of potential complications to watch for. Each participant received a package containing medication, hygiene supplies, and snacks to support their recovery. (**)
