BPI Gives Appreciation to Journalists through BPI Journalistic Competition 2017

Batang, June 12, 2017 – PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) awarded journalists representing various local mass media outlets that won BPI Journalistic Competition 2017 (KJ BPI 2017). This activity is a follow up activity after the journalistic writing training conducted in March. These BPI activities have conducted as a part of BPI’s comprehensive community empowerment program and also enhance communication with the local journalists. 
 
BPI President Director Takashi Irie said that KJ BPI 2017 was held in line with  BPI commitment to grow with the surrounding community, where one of the part is journalists. This kind of community capacity building programs have been provided to various elements of the community, such as job training of micro business enterprises for economic development program, village midwives for health program and school teachers for education program.
 
“We would like to extend our gratitude to the journalist participated in KJ BPI 2017. We hope both the training and journalistic competition will contribute to all journalist for continuous self-development and produce the best journalistic work by producing a high quality  news report,” said Irie.
 
The inaugural of KJ BPI this year carried the theme “Pembangunan PLTU Jawa Tengah Untuk Ketahanan Energi Nasional” – “Development of Central Java Power Plant for National Energy Resilience”. BPI decided on the theme to explore more public understanding on the important role of Central Java Power Plant in supporting the government’s program to meet national electricity demand. 
 
In a competition held from January-May 2017, there were two categories in the competition, namely “Articles” and “Photo News”. Aside from the two categories, KJ BPI 2017 also awarded one special category to the most active participant. Throughout the KJ BPI 2017, there were 231 articles and 35 photos submitted by the participants. The submissions were screened according to the categories before being assessed by the panel of judges. 
 
For the judging panel KJ BPI 2017 involved a number of senior journalists with decades of experience, i.e. Chairman of Indonesian Journalist Association (PWI) of Central Java Amir Mahmud, Media Indonesia Photo Editor Sumaryanto Bronto, as well as BPI Media Relations Ayu Windiyaningrum.
 
KJ BPI 2017 Judge Amir Mahmud extended his appreciation to BPI for having initiated journalistic training and competition. The activity is excellent to create healthy competition among journalists to produce the best piece and idea. 
 
“There are many different perspectives that journalists can explore on an information. Activities like the BPI Journalistic Competition can encourage journalists to manage and provide information into inspirational reporting. I hope BPI will continue to hold activities like this on a regular basis,” Amir explained at the event in Pekalongan.
