Unexpected! Former Batang Power Plant Worker Now Succeeds as a Local Entrepreneur Assisted by BPI

Bhimasena Power, PLTU Batang – PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program supports the participation of MSMEs in the field of creative economy in the 2025 Batang Creative Economy Festival (Ekraf) that held on August 27-29, 2025 on Jl. Veteran Batang. This event became a forum for business actors to introduce their products, as well as an important momentum because at the BPI exhibition booth involved former Batang Power Plant workers during construction who were affected by the demobilization program and have now successfully transformed into independent local entrepreneurs.

BPI presents three fostered MSMEs, namely Abdul Rozak who has a sofa maker, Abdul Latif who has a furniture business and Tarno Widodo who has a business in making leather puppets, miniature toys that have the opportunity to exhibit their products.

The Regent of Batang, M. Faiz Kurniawan, SH, MH during his visit to the BPI exhibition booth also expressed his appreciation for BPI's support for the Batang EKRAF Festival activities by providing a forum and assistance to MSMEs assisted by the CSR program plus there was a photo booth that attracted the attention of the public to visit.

"I really appreciate the presence of BPI at this event, which continues to assist MSMEs in growing the creative economy. I am confident that the creative economy will never be timeless and will continue to grow in the future. Most importantly, we all stay creative and innovative. General Manager of Stakeholder Relations of PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia, Aryamir H. Sulasmoro said that the support for the Batang Creative Festival activities is the company's commitment to support the development of the creative economy in Batang Regency by providing a forum for assisted MSMEs to expand the marketing of their products. In addition, BPI also opened photo booths and photo competitions which became an attraction for exhibition visitors to see the Batang Power Plant more closely.

"We are committed to continuing to support the improvement of the creative economy in the community, especially the community around the Batang Power Plant and former workers in the construction phase who are now turning into MSME actors. Through participation in this exhibition, we hope that they can be more confident, expand the market and show that they are able to compete with other products at the local and national levels," said Aryamir H. Sulasmoro.

One of the MSME actors assisted by BPI's CSR, Abdul Rozak, shared his experience. "I used to work at a Batang Power Plant, and had experience as a carpenter and thanks to the training and support from BPI, I was able to start a sofa making business. Now I can exhibit the results at this event, and even start to get buyers from outside the region. This makes me even more enthusiastic to develop the business," he said.

Through this support, BPI hopes that the assisted MSMEs can continue to develop, create new jobs, and strengthen the regional economy. This Batang Creative Festival is expected to be a momentum to grow a resilient and sustainable local business ecosystem.
