Important to Know, Artificial Patch Reefs made of FABA from Batang Power Plant are overgrown with Corals

Bhimasena Power, Batang Power Plant - PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI)
carried out the dissemination of the results of monitoring Artificial Fish
Apartments (AFA) and Artificial Patch Reef (APR) made of FABA from Batang Power
Plant in Batang waters. This activity is the result of a collaboration between
BPI and the Marine and Fisheries Service (DKP) of Central Java Province, and
the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University on Monday,
September 8, 2025 at the Batang Regent Office Hall which was attended by all
stakeholders.
On this occasion, Chief Operating Officer of PT Bhimasena
Power Indonesia Naofumi Yasuda expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the
Batang Regency Government, the Marine and Fisheries Service of Central Java
Province, and Diponegoro University for the support and cooperation provided so
far.
"The program to produce and install AFA and APR made of
FABA from Batang Power Plant is a form of our commitment and concern for the
condition and development of the blue economy in the coastal areas of Batang
Regency," said Naofumi Yasuda.
BPI hopes that this program can support the blue economy,
maintain food security, and provide economic benefits for the surrounding
community through increasing fish catches and ecotourism development.
"We believe the success of a program is the result of
solid cooperation from various parties. For this reason, let's jointly support
each other and collaborate together for the progress of Batang Regency,"
added Chief Operating Officer of BPI.
In his direction, the Regent of Batang M. Faiz Kurniawan said
that the Batang Regency Government greatly appreciates and supports the program
carried out by PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia in supporting the development of
the blue economy and environmental conservation in Batang Regency by using the
FABA from Batang Power Plant which is converted into AFA and APR to answer the
threat of declining marine coral reef ecosystems.
"We hope that this program can continue to be developed,
the coverage area is expanded and has the potential to become a tourist
destination in Batang Regency that provides significant benefits for the people
of Batang," said the Regent of Batang.
The Head of the DKP of Central Java Province, Endi Faiz
Effendi, Spi, MA, represented by Ir. Lilik Harnadi, M.Si, M.Sc as the Head of
the Marine, Coastal and Small Island Division, said that the collaboration
between the DKP of Central Java, BPI and UNDIP is a joint effort to manage the
coast in Batang Regency.
"It is hoped that all parties can work together to
protect coastal areas that can provide ecological and economic benefits for the
people in Batang Regency," said the Head of the DKP of Central Java.
Professor of Marine Environmental Sciences, Faculty of
Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Munasik,
explained that the results of AFA and APR monitoring in general are very
encouraging because based on the monitoring carried out at Karang Sebapang and
Karang Ban after they were installed in 2022, it shows that the physical
condition of AFA and APR is still in good condition and is able to form
micro-ecosystems and function as fish collection devices.
"We recommend Karang Sebapang as an Underwater Park area
to protect biodiversity and develop ecotourism and environmental education to
support the community," said Prof. Dr. Ir. Munasik.
Meanwhile, the representative of the fishing community, the
Chairman of HNSI Batang Teguh Tarmudjo, said that this dissemination program is
very beneficial for us as a fishing community, because we can find out the
results of the program that has been carried out by BPI together with the
Central Java DKP and UNDIP to increase fish catches and provide economic
benefits for the surrounding community.
We really appreciate PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia, the
Central Java Marine and Fisheries Service, and Diponegoro University for their
cooperation and support in this program," said the Chairman of HNSI
Batang.
The dissemination of the monitoring results is expected to
provide benefits and increase insights for all parties involved. BPI is
committed to continuing to support the development of the blue economy and
environmental conservation in Batang Regency.
